My mom and sister came up this past Saturday to watch Connor's t-ball game and look at wedding dresses. She brought her baby bunny because the boys could not wait until spring break to see her. They named her Moo-shoo at first but now it is Lulu. She also let them name two of her kittens, that was when they were in their superhero phase so they were dubbed Wonder Woman and Bruce. Bruce ??? you say well for those of you not up to date on Batman or those that live in the world of little girls.... Bruce is Batman's real name. (don't feel bad I had to be schooled as to who Bruce was too, by my three year old non the less, how her knew this fact still amazes me.) I just wish I could have been there the day my mom picked them up from their spay/neuter at the vet and said "I am here to pick up Wonder Woman and Bruce "oh I would have got a good laugh out of that one.

Critters
I was getting ready to get go get Connor at school this past Friday, when I noticed this white fluff ball in the bushes. Turns out if was a Great Horned owlet. I left him there while I went to get Connor at school not wanting to disturb him if his mom was still around. Low and behold he was still there when we returned, so I left him there and watched through the living room window for a while to see if he was being taken care of. After a while with no mom in site I went out to take a closer look and discovered he was slightly emaciated so of course we got a box for him and brought him in the house to figure out what to do. I looked up the local rescue on line because I just don't have the time to rehabilitate him, and they would do a better job. The nearest rescue was in town about twenty five minutes away. You have to take them in they will not pick them up, so he stayed with us over the weekend since I did not have time to run him in.
I of course called my mom and sister to tell them about the cute little owlet I had found. My mom researched what they ate, and found stew meat was on the menu, I just so happen to have some in the freezer. I fed him the thawed meat all weekend and he did really well, he was really easy to feed. I would just cut up the pieces and put them on a skewer stick and he would take them right off the stick. He ate about every four hours. It was a great learning experience for the boys they even helped me feed him. Connor even said," it is just like we are zoo keepers." The boys wanted to keep him as a pet of course and I explained to them why he needed to stay wild and that was why we were taking him to the rescue center. That they would raise him and teach him how to be a wild bird again. It was a fun experience and he was by far the most interesting animal I have found.

The boys first sleep over
This past Saturday while the Rob and a friend of his went to a poker tournament his wife(a good friend of mine) and her boys came over to hang out. We had a movie night for the boys ( and cocktail hour for us lol) she brought snacks and a movie, and I pulled out the sofa bed for the boys we had a great time. Her oldest asked if he could stay the night and I was more than happy to have him, so the boys got to have their first sleep over. They had a great time. The guys finally sauntered in around 1am they had also had a great time. We were all dragging the next day.

The Garden
I have been working on my garden for the past few weekends mainly weeding and turning the soil. I have three boxes and a large open area to plant. The open area I can rototill but the boxes I turn and weed by had it is a good work out. I love this weather and love being outside it makes it hard to get my housework done.
Last weekend I planted some broccoli, spinach, and head lettuce for a late winter garden. When I check it this morning I discovered I have a thief. All of my lettuce was eaten as well as the spinach I guess he does not like broccoli. I suspect it is the baby jackrabbit I see on our lawn in the evening I guess it is back to Lowes for some fencing. Today I planted sweet peas and blue lake beans. I hope that mister rabbit does not visit tonight or it will be war.
Fort
So I spent a couple hours putting together a fort for the boys. No real building involved I used bamboo and burlap. In a corner of our yard there are a group of trees that never got planted, they were set there in their pots and eventually grew out of the pots into the ground next to the hedges and formed a u shape of trees with space between them and the hedges. So used the hedges as the back wall and they took baboo poles and attached burlap to make the front "wall" of the fort and a door. Nothing really elaborate but they love it(and it did't cost much). I think sometimes kids like the more simple forts. My friends husband spent a day at thier ranch building the kids a cool fort about two feet off the ground with a platform and bridge it was really cool and when he was done his son said "no thanks dad I just wanted a tee-pee. It was pretty funny so now they have this nice fort that they hardley ever play on. They boys loved their fort and had their afternoon snack on their "porch" it has a nice view of the garden.
